Solacryl
is a 100% acrylic fabric made exclusively by Bainbridge International.
It provides the appearance of traditional canvas, but has been specifically
manufactured to withstand the rigors of the marine environment.
Choosing Solacryl
is not just selecting the leading acrylic marine fabric. It is choosing
quality, technical excellence and 25 years of experience to give the
best possible protection for your boat.
Why
use Solacryl
marine
acrylic.
Many different materials are available to make covers;
canvas, PVC and polyester plus other brands of acrylic fabrics. Your
Covermaker has chosen to use Solacryl
marine acrylic because, with all factors considered, it is simply the
best material for the purpose.
Woven
construction provides a traditional, quality appearance.
Solution
dyed for rich non fade colours and reduced 'crazing' or 'marbelling'.
Acrylic
yarns give excellent UV stability especially compared with polyester
products.
Weather
resistant to extremes of temperature. Unlike PVC it will not sweat,
stick or crack.
Rot
proof.
Fungi,
bacteria and insect resistant.
Oil
and grease resistant.
Wide
choice of attractive colours.
Easy
to clean.
Solacryl
uncoated combines excellent water repellence with good breathability
Solacryl
coated features a near waterproof resin based coating.
Solacryl
vinyl coated is 100% waterproof.
Three styles of
Solacryl
marine acrylic are available and your Covermaker will know which to
select depending on the type, design and function of your cover.
UNCOATED
Solacryl
uncoated features an X27 Pearlguard water resistant finish. It passes
a 300mm water column test, but still allows the fabric to breathe.
This is vital in many applications where 100% waterproof products such
as PVC will cause warm damp air to be trapped under the cover, causing
mildew, mould and corrosion inside your boat. Allowing a more free flow
of air avoids this problem. It is ideal for applications such as sail,
winch and binnacle covers, covers over self-draining cockpits and it
is particularly suitable for wooden boats.
COATED
Solacryl
coated has a resin based waterproof coating on one side. This increases
the water column test result to 1000mm, yet does not effect the appearance
or feel of the finished cover. Solacryl
coated is by far the most popular fabric as the resultant cover or awning
is almost 100% waterproof, yet retains the beautiful quality and appearance
of a traditional cover. Solacryl
coated is the ideal material for most marine applications including
sprayhoods, biminis and cockpit covers.
VINYL
COATED
A
heavy interior coating of vinyl makes this fabric ideal for applications
where the fabric must be 100% waterproof and internal appearance and
fabric weight are secondary factors.
Caring
for your SOLACRYL Cover
Solacryl
marine acrylics have been specifically designed for use in marine covers
and awnings and will provide many years of service and protection to
your boat. Following these simple guidelines will prolong their appearance.
Clean
regularly to prevent dirt becoming embedded in the fabric.
Loose
dirt can simply be brushed off.
For
more intensive cleaning hose down and clean with warm water and a natural
soap solution. Rinse thoroughly.
Covers
should be clean and dry before winter storage.
CAUTION!
Do not use detergents or chlorine solutions as these can damage the
water-repellent coatings.
Do
not iron, tumble dry or subject fabric to extreme heat.
